The story of the doctors in the village of Bow took an unexpected and unpleasant turn in 2008 when allegations from a newly appointed doctor resulted in another doctor being prevented from working by Devon Primary Care Trust (PCT).
The affair was mismanaged from the start by the PCT and Devon LMC (Local Medical Committee). The following July the PCT was severely criticised in the High Court when, on appeal, its decision was overturned.
